About Ken

Kenneth E. Galluccio (July 9, 1968 – February 22, 2009) was a pivotal figure in the development of lacrosse in Germany and Europe, recognized for his passion and contributions to the sport. Born in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County, New York, Galluccio became one of the first ambassadors of lacrosse in Germany, where he played a significant role in promoting and organizing the sport.

Ken was instrumental in organizing referees, building youth programs, and managing the German U-19/U-21 lacrosse team, which achieved the country's best-ever performance at the 2008 World Games in British Columbia.

He also conceived the idea for a European field lacrosse club champions competition, which was first held in 2008 in Hamburg, Germany, with five clubs participating. Following his death in February 2009 at the age of 40, the tournament was renamed the Ken Galluccio Cup in his honor, reflecting his lasting impact on the sport.

Ken was an ambassador of lacrosse in many countries – running clinics, teaching referees, networking. He also played a significant role in mentoring and supporting the organisation of the European field lacrosse championship in Prague in 2006.

Ken was also a keen photographer. His passion for lacrosse was contagious and his impact on the lacrosse development in Europe was truly unique.

Ken Galluccio Cup

The European Champions Cup was organized in various European locations since 2010. In 2010 and 2011 the men's and women's tournaments were separated. In 2012 in Prague, both categories were played together. Ghent, Belgium hosted the tournament from 2013 to 2019, and the organizers set the standard for the event. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The ELF then applied the policy of licensing the organisation for three years, and Barcelona became the home of the event for 2022–2024. From 2025 to 2027, the tournament will be held in the Czech lacrosse hub – Radotín.

The Pointbench results and stats system has been used since 2013 and you can find all stats online.
